Never lose track of who's due back
Every green and yellow card runs its own countdown. A buzz at 10 seconds, then a full-screen flash with the returning shirt number when time is up.
UmpireApp runs the clock, goals, penalty corners, cards and every suspension countdown from your Wear OS watch, with your Android phone for setup, reports and history. Built by a hockey umpire for club, county and semi-professional field hockey.
Start the clock on the watch, then log a goal or a card. It appears here with its match time.
Try it: press ▶ START or the side button, tap the dots to swipe between Goals · Timer · Cards, then turn on Phone out of range and keep umpiring.
You already carry the rules, your positioning and the players' mood. UmpireApp takes the counting and the note-taking off your mind.
Every green and yellow card runs its own countdown. A buzz at 10 seconds, then a full-screen flash with the returning shirt number when time is up.
Distinct vibrations at 2 minutes and 10 seconds remaining. The timer is anchored to real time, so it stays right with the screen off.
Every goal, card, corner and incident is time-stamped as it happens. If the scorebook disagrees afterwards, you have the timeline.
The disciplinary report fills itself in from the match. Add your account by voice or keyboard, sign on screen and export a PDF.
Bluetooth only reaches so far across a pitch. When the watch loses the phone, it carries on by itself and catches the phone up when you're back in range.
Goals, corners, cards, starts and pauses made out of range are saved on the watch with the time it showed when you tapped.
Issue a card and the watch pauses the clock, then runs the suspension itself: next-back line, buzz at 10 seconds, flash when the player can return.
Taps reach the phone in the order you made them, at the right match times, with the clock and the time left on each card matching your watch.
If a new match was started on the phone while the two weren't connected, END MATCH ON WATCH (Cards page, clock paused) gets you out of the old one.
Bluetooth range is typically around 10 metres and varies with the watch, phone and surroundings. The figures here are for illustration.
Built around how a club or county match really runs, from the coin toss to your post-match review.
Clubs, team names, kit colours, captains' shirt numbers, up to six officials, venue and weather. Save it as a template for next week.
League, cup or friendly. Men's/Open, Ladies, Mixed, Boys, Girls and Junior.
Coin toss with the result recorded, warm-up countdown, pre-match checklist (pitch, nets, balls, GK kit, team sheets) and a test of your alerts.
Keep your fixtures in a schedule with reminders, then start the match from it on the day.

Halves or quarters of any length, stoppage time, and interval timers that can start themselves when a period ends. Survives a phone restart mid-game.
Field goal, penalty corner, penalty stroke or own goal. Green 2 min, yellow 5 or 10 min and red, each with a live countdown and alerts.
One tap for either team, counted on the scoreboard and undoable. Optional 40-second countdown for competitions that use it.
Goals, cards and captaincy link to shirt numbers, up to three digits. You're warned if a goal goes to a player who's currently suspended.
Video referrals, strokes, injuries, captain changes and GK subs. When a captain is carded you name an acting captain, and it reverts on their return.
Light and dark themes plus a high-contrast mode for bright afternoons. Lock the screen during play so a pocket can't press anything.

Start and pause with the side button. Goals with shirt number and type, corners, and every card colour, all from the watch.
The timer page shows who's due back next, in the card's colour, turning bold in the final minute.
Out of range, the watch keeps every tap with its match time, pauses for cards and runs the countdowns itself, then syncs in order.
Different patterns at 2 minutes and 10 seconds, for card returns and at the end of a period.
Quarter and half-time countdowns, confirm end of period, and start the next one from the wrist.
When the match ends, a swipe closes the app. Double-tap the score to force a re-sync with the phone.

PDF with score, corners, format, venue, weather and a full timeline by quarter. Send it by WhatsApp or email before you leave the ground.
Edit a shirt number, a card reason (from the FIH list) or an event's match time. Events re-order themselves and edits are clearly marked.
Pre-filled from the match. Tap Dictate and speak your account of the incident, sign on screen and export a PDF. See a sample →
Every match, searchable. Your season in numbers: goals, cards, corners, top card reasons, and steps and distance covered.

After each match rate the difficulty and team behaviour, and add notes, by voice if you prefer.
Watching a colleague? Record time-stamped moments by category and get a summary at the end.
The umpire signals guide and FIH rules reference are built in and work offline.
Strokes or shuffles recorded shot by shot with sudden death. "Set up next match" copies venue, format and officials.

The match report and the disciplinary report build themselves from what you logged. You add only what the app can't know.
Score, corners, format, venue, officials and a time-stamped timeline. For a card: the team, shirt number, time, reason and any earlier cards for that player.
Tap Dictate and describe the incident out loud while it's fresh. Your words become the written narrative, ready to check and tidy. No typing on a wet touchscreen in the car park.
Both umpires can sign on the phone. Send the PDF by email or WhatsApp, or save it to the device. A red card also links you to the official Red Card Form.
Dictation uses Google Gemini with your own free API key, added once in Settings. Typing works too.
